Our SVCC ELC preschool program is inspired in latest development and educational research, understanding children as whole selves.

Every day, children use their body and mind to engage in learning opportunities where they explore their interests and abilities, develop social, emotional and self-regulation skills and abilities as the same time as they achieve learning dispositions such us curiosity, meaning-making, metacognitive awareness, learning relationships, growth orientation, all in a Christian environment.

The Preschool Program consists of a set of indoor and outdoor educational experiences and projects for children that take place on every day of the week.

Early childhood teachers purposefully design the program, inspired by the unique characteristics of each child, the Australian Early Years Learning Framework and socio-cultural approaches to learning and development like Reggio Emilia, among others.

Learning takes place in a play and inquiry base environment where children are considered capable, unique, protagonist of their learning and active part of their community.

Attendance.

In the best interest of the child, we recommend ELC students attend the Preschool Program at least 3 days per week to get the maximum positive outcomes in their individual learning and development.

Please talk to the ELC Director for attendance arrangements.

Before/after Preschool Program care and Vacation care.

For our busy studying/working families, before and after care is so convenient. ELC students feel secure and are supported to transition to and from OSHC and ELC facilities.

OSHC is located in the school grounds and is a short 2-minute walk to ELC.

ELC staff walk children to their destination and ensure communication between both centres is efficient, supporting children and family’s needs.

Parents are not committed to book before and after care everyday but as needed, which means daily fees can be reduced to only the preschool program rather than having to pay a full day of Long Day Care.

Consistent staff arrangements are made so children are familiar with their careers when they visit before and after care.

Inclusion quest.

At SVCC ELC our program, daily interactions, pedagogical reflections and planning for learning are driven by an inclusion readiness goal. We understand each child is unique and has its own learning and development journey, therefore their individual characteristics and needs will drive us to provide each of them with support to participate in all events, regardless of race, gender, disability, medical or any other need.

Working in partnership with our Inclusion Agency Gowrie SA, we have been able to develop a Strategic Inclusion Plan (SIP) to overcome inclusion barriers. Funding for an Additional Educator, implementing Innovative Solution Projects and Universal Preschool Access are some of the strategies we are implementing to provide an excellent education and care service.
