SVCC ELC Transition Orientation Program.
Our ELC Preschool Program is designed to support children to develop the skills and abilities needed for life learning from enrolment.
We understand transitioning to school is a big milestone for young children and SVCC ELC Transition Orientation Program aims to support children by familiarising them with the new learning environment; developing and strengthening friendships; build trusting, close and respectful relationships with new teachers and the school environment. This is achieved through meaningful and inquiry-based experiences where the children can hypothesise, question, research, share information and reflect.
Following the Early Years Learning Framework, the ELC nurtures a strong sense of belonging that supports students to become capable and curious learners.
They are then able to participate fully and actively in society, achieving their goals at school and reducing any anxiety about fitting in and facing unknown expectations in their new environment.
The Transition Orientation Program takes place on every Friday of the term as following:
Students starting Foundation at the beginning of the year (Term 1): Attend Transition Orientation Program in Term 4
Students starting Foundation mid-year (Term 3): Attend Transition Orientation Program in Term 2
What happens during the Program?
Wondering about being a Foundation Student Sessions ELC Students transitioning to Foundation have a 40-minute gathering based at the SVCC Resource Centre run by an ELC Early Childhood Teacher, where they Engage in conversations to wonder, explore and share their elaborations around transitioning to school.
